SHA2, Bcrypt, and checksum tools
Choose text hashing, file verification, Bcrypt password hashing, or named checksums for text input.
Choose by task
Match a SHA2 digest
For text, use SHA2 Digest Calculator with the expected size and standard round settings. SHA-256 and SHA-512/256 remain different algorithms despite equal output lengths. Newlines change the hashed text bytes.
For a download, select Verify file SHA-256 and choose one file up to 64 MiB. Paste the publisher's expected 64-character digest to receive Match or Mismatch. Text Size and Rounds settings do not apply to file verification.
Create a Bcrypt password hash
Bcrypt Hash Generator generates a new salt for each run. Different outputs for the same password therefore do not show a calculation error. Its cost setting controls the work required for hashing. Keep passwords within the tool's 72 UTF-8 byte limit; characters and bytes can have different counts. Do not compare Bcrypt outputs as if they were plain SHA2 digests.
Compare named checksum variants
All Checksums Generator calculates CRC, Adler, and Fletcher variants from UTF-8 text only. It has no file or hex-byte input. Pasting a hexadecimal protocol frame checksums the characters, not the frame bytes. Keep algorithm names when comparing results; matching widths do not identify a CRC variant.
Checksums can expose accidental changes, but they do not authenticate the sender. The encoding, hashing, and encryption guide explains that distinction before you select a security mechanism.
