List Item Wrapper
Apply custom prefix and suffix text to every list item.
This tool runs open-source code from OmniTools (MIT License). See open-source credits.
List Item Wrapper adds text before and after each separated item. With comma separators and double-quote wrappers, red, blue becomes "red","blue". Wrappers can also contain brackets or longer prefixes and suffixes.
Each retained item receives the left and right wrappers. Output separator joins the wrapped items into one text result.
- Add brackets around individual labels.
- Apply a repeated prefix and suffix to identifiers.
- Prepare quoted list samples for manual inspection.
Instructions
- Enter red, blue in Input list.
- Use symbol splitting and commas for both separators. Set Left wrapper and Right wrapper to a double quote.
- Run the tool. Check for "red","blue" and inspect any quotes already present inside your items.
Example
Input: red,green,,blue
Settings: Left wrapper: ", Right wrapper: ", Discard blank entries: on (the defaults)
Result: "red","green","blue"
The empty item between the two commas is dropped. Turn off Discard blank entries to keep it as "".
Limits
- The tool adds wrappers literally. It does not escape quotes or validate JSON, CSV, or SQL.
- Discard blank items removes empty strings, but it does not remove items that contain only spaces.
- A separator inside an item still splits that item. Use a separator that does not occur within your values.
