How do I convert text to uppercase?

Does uppercase conversion translate the text?

No. It changes letter case without translating words or rewriting sentences. Numbers and punctuation do not gain uppercase equivalents.

Can I restore the original mixed capitalization afterward?

Not from the uppercase result alone. Several original case patterns can produce the same output, so keep the source when case matters.
