Questions

What does COBS decoding recover?

COBS decoding removes the byte-stuffing representation and restores byte data. Use an encoded COBS payload rather than hexadecimal characters that merely describe it. Protocol framing can require you to isolate the payload first.

Is a COBS packet the same as a compressed packet?

No. COBS changes byte layout so a reserved zero value can serve framing purposes. It does not compress repeated content or encrypt the payload. Interpret the restored bytes using the surrounding protocol.

Why should I check COBS packet boundaries?

A decoder needs the intended encoded block rather than unrelated headers or adjacent packets. Extra framing bytes can change the interpretation. Compare the decoded length and protocol fields with the expected packet structure.
