Hashing & Checksums
Hash Analyzer
Analyze hash and report the important details. Enter the data, choose the digest options, then copy the calculated value.
This tool runs open-source code from CyberChef by GCHQ (Apache License 2.0). See open-source credits.
Hash Analyzer uses hash analysis for the supplied input. The operation reports byte and bit length, then lists algorithms compatible with that length. The output reports structure or candidate information, not a recovered secret.
The operation reports byte and bit length, then lists algorithms compatible with that length. The output reports structure or candidate information, not a recovered secret. This result runs in the browser for this catalog category. Processing runs in the browser.
Hash analysis narrows candidates by format; it does not crack hashes or prove algorithm choice.
Instructions
- Provide text or data for this tool.
- Paste a complete public digest. This applies to Hash Analyzer.
- Check the reported length before reviewing candidate algorithms. This applies to Hash Analyzer.
- Use a known input and algorithm to verify any hypothesis. This applies to Hash Analyzer.
Example
Input: A public hexadecimal digest such as "5d41402abc4b2a76b9719d911017c592". Algorithm operation: Hash Analyzer.
Settings: Hash Analyzer: Enter hexadecimal characters only. Remove spaces and line breaks before analysis. Use the complete digest when checking candidate algorithms.
Result: The operation reports byte and bit length, then lists algorithms compatible with that length. The output reports structure or candidate information, not a recovered secret.
Limits
- Hash Analyzer: Length alone cannot identify the algorithm.
- Hash Analyzer: Different algorithms can share digest lengths.
- Hash Analyzer: The analyzer does not reverse a hash or recover the original input.
