Direct answer
What Geometric Mean Calculator does
The geometric mean is the nth root of the product of n positive values. This calculator averages their logarithms and exponentiates the result. This method avoids directly multiplying large products and helps compare multiplicative factors.
Output
What you receive
The result shows the geometric mean and the number of positive input values.
Use this tool
How to calculate a geometric mean
- Enter strictly positive values.
- Use decimal growth factors rather than percentage symbols when working with proportional changes.
- Select Calculate and inspect the geometric mean and count.
Processing
Calculate in your browser
The calculator processes your values locally. It does not send them to a calculation service.
Worked example
Test Geometric Mean Calculator with a safe sample
Input: 2, 8
Settings: Two positive values.
Expected result
Geometric mean approximately 4; count 2.
The product is 16. Its square root is 4. Floating-point calculation can display a nearby value.
Limits
Check before you use the result
- Enter up to 1000 values separated by commas, spaces, line breaks, or semicolons. Use a dot for decimal fractions.
- Each nonzero input must have absolute value from 1e-100 through 1e100. Commas separate values, not thousands: 1,000 means two values. Fraction expressions and percentages are not accepted.
- Calculations use floating-point numbers. Results can include rounding; closely spaced large integers can become indistinguishable during parsing.
- Zero and negative values are not supported.
- Growth factors must be positive. This tool does not convert percentages or determine an investment return automatically.
