Process key or token data with ECDSA Verify and explicit format settings. Enter the key material, choose the required format, then review the result.
This tool runs open-source code from CyberChef by GCHQ (Apache License 2.0). See open-source credits.
ECDSA Verifier performs elliptic-curve signature verification for the supplied key or certificate data. It converts the supplied signature to ASN.1 form and returns Verified OK or Verification Failure.
It converts the supplied signature to ASN.1 form and returns Verified OK or Verification Failure. This result runs in the browser for this catalog category. Processing runs in the browser.
Digital signatures protect message integrity under a trusted key; identity and certificate trust require external validation.
Instructions
- Provide text or data for this tool.
- Do not put the original message into the signature input. This applies to ECDSA Verifier.
- Choose the explicit signature format if Auto cannot identify it. This applies to ECDSA Verifier.
Example
Input: Paste a signature from ECDSA Sign as input; set Message to "abc", Message format Raw, and SHA-256.
Settings: ECDSA Verifier: ECDSA Public Key (PEM) takes the corresponding public key. Input Format describes the signature; Message format describes the separate message.
Result: It converts the supplied signature to ASN.1 form and returns Verified OK or Verification Failure.
Limits
- ECDSA Verifier: A format error differs from a correctly parsed signature that fails verification.
- ECDSA Verifier: Verified OK does not establish who owns the supplied public key.
