This tool runs open-source code from CyberChef by GCHQ (Apache License 2.0). See open-source credits.

ECDSA Signer performs elliptic-curve message signing for the supplied key or certificate data. It hashes and signs the input string, then serializes the signature in the selected format.

It hashes and signs the input string, then serializes the signature in the selected format. This result runs in the browser for this catalog category. Processing runs in the browser.

Digital signatures protect message integrity under a trusted key; identity and certificate trust require external validation.

Instructions

  1. Provide text or data for this tool.
  2. Keep the original message string unchanged for verification. This applies to ECDSA Signer.
  3. Pass the signature to ECDSA Verify with the matching public key and digest. This applies to ECDSA Signer.

Example

Input: Use message "abc", a disposable EC private PEM key, SHA-256, and Output Format ASN.1 HEX.

Settings: ECDSA Signer: ECDSA Private Key (PEM) must contain a complete private EC key. Output Format selects ASN.1 HEX, P1363 HEX, JSON Web Signature, or Raw JSON.

Result: It hashes and signs the input string, then serializes the signature in the selected format.

Limits

  • ECDSA Signer: A public key cannot create this signature.
  • ECDSA Signer: The JSON Web Signature output is signature encoding, not a complete three-part JWT.
