This tool runs open-source code from OmniTools (MIT License). See open-source credits.

transparent PNG Builder removes pixels that match a selected color. It preserves image dimensions and returns a PNG with transparency. It does not recognize a person, object, or background automatically.

The result is a PNG download with the source dimensions and a -transparent.png filename suffix.

  • Remove a flat, single-color background from a small image.
  • Prepare an icon for placement on another background.
  • Compare exact color removal with a wider color tolerance.

Instructions

  1. Choose a two-pixel image with one white pixel and one black pixel.
  2. Set Color to make transparent to #ffffff and Color similarity to 0%.
  3. Run the tool and download the PNG. The white pixel becomes transparent; the black pixel remains opaque.

Limits

  • Matching pixels disappear everywhere, including inside the subject.
  • Color similarity can remove nearby colors. Inspect edges against both dark and light backgrounds.
  • This is pixel-color matching, not automatic background segmentation.
  • Keep the source image. Transparent pixels do not restore removed visual information.
