LS47 Decryption

Decrypt LS47 hand-cipher text with its password and padding count. Uses the 49-character LS47 alphabet on a 7 x 7 grid.

Options

Allowed alphabet: _abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.0123456789,-+*/:?!'(). Spaces, uppercase letters, and line breaks are unsupported. An empty password remains valid.

Remove this many leading plaintext characters. Use a whole number no greater than ciphertext length.

Ready for a result

Decrypt LS47 hand-cipher text with its password and padding count. Uses the 49-character LS47 alphabet on a 7 x 7 grid.

This tool runs open-source code from CyberChef by GCHQ (Apache License 2.0). See open-source credits.

The password constructs a 7 × 7 grid. LS47 updates that grid as it processes the ciphertext.

The output contains plaintext after removal of the requested leading padding.

  • Read an LS47 message from a CTF challenge or a hand-cipher hobby group.

Decrypt a message with the supplied password

Input: (,t74ci78cp/8trx*yesu:alp1wqy

Settings: Password helloworld, Padding 0

Result: thequickbrownfoxjumped---test

The default Padding of 10 would remove thequickbr and return ownfoxjumped---test.

Check the alphabet, padding, and password

  1. Paste the ciphertext and enter the sender’s Password.
  2. Set Padding to the count used during encryption.
  3. Read any text after --- as the sender’s appended signature text.
  • A wrong password can return unreadable text without an error.
  • The appended signature is not cryptographic authentication.
  • Use this hand cipher for compatible messages, not modern data protection.
