Extraction & Analysis
domains Extractor
Extract domain-shaped names from text without visiting them. Preserve repeats or select Unique and Sort for a deduplicated list.
This tool runs open-source code from CyberChef by GCHQ (Apache License 2.0). See open-source credits.
domains Extractor finds domain-shaped names in supplied text. It separates host names from URL paths. A match does not prove that a domain exists, belongs to someone, or is safe to visit.
The default result contains one matched domain per line in input order. Repeated domains remain unless Unique is enabled.
- Collect host names from a text log without visiting the addresses.
- Compare repeated domain mentions before creating a unique list.
- Separate domain-shaped names from URL paths in a report.
Instructions
- Paste the text that contains domains or complete URLs.
- Leave Display total, Sort, Unique, and Underscore off for the published example.
- Run the tool and compare each extracted host name with its source.
- Enable Unique to remove repeated matches. Enable Sort when you need alphabetical output.
Example
Input: Visit https://www.example.com/a and https://docs.example.org/b, then https://www.example.com/c.
Settings: domains Extractor: Display total off; Sort off; Unique off; Underscore off.
Result: www.example.com docs.example.org www.example.com Processing runs in your browser.
domains Extractor preserves subdomains and repeated matches. Paths /a, /b, and /c do not appear in the result.
Limits
- Pattern matching does not perform DNS lookup, ownership checks, or reputation checks.
- A domain-shaped value such as example.invalid can match. A match does not establish a registered domain.
- Plain localhost and IP addresses do not match this domain extractor.
