CSV and JSON operations
Browser conversion and spreadsheet workflows
By Tool Factory. Published .
Compare the complete workflow, including import, conversion, review, and export.
| Check | Browser conversion | Spreadsheet workflow |
|---|---|---|
| Leading zeros | The measured CSV adapter preserves text identifiers. | Select a text column type before import; verify exported text. |
| Duplicate headers | The measured dictionary conversion rejects duplicate headers. | Inspect headers and define a rename policy before export. |
| Nested records | The measured JSON adapter flattens nested paths. | Define a flattening rule before representing records as columns. |
| Manual correction | Edit source text or prepare a corrected file. | Inspect and edit visible cells; preserve the original separately. |
| Repeatability | Record each selected option and validate the result. | Record import settings, formulas, transformations, and export settings. |
How do you compare the same sample?
Include an identifier such as 00123, a quoted comma, an empty value, and a field missing from the first record. Compare row counts and exact values after export. Do not infer success from a file that opens without errors.
How do you handle formula-like values?
A valid CSV cell can trigger spreadsheet behavior. Apply the receiving application's approved formula policy. Conversion does not establish safe execution.
The benchmark measures only the repository adapter. It measures no spreadsheet product. Use the selection criteria, calculate your workflow cost, and follow the validation checklist.
